About Malta
As a country, Malta shares deep-rooted cultural and historical ties with Britain. Having been a British colony for more than a century and a half, the Maltese have absorbed many of the mores, customs and traditions of the British people. Apart from their native tongue, English is spoken universally. Concepts of professionalism in Malta also bear a striking resemblance to our British counterparts, as do the essential requirements of personal care and hygiene. Such values have resulted in a great affinity between Malta and Britain, especially in the field of health provision.
There is, however, one salient difference: - Whereas health provision in Britain is hugely understaffed and, as a result, slow and expensive, the reverse is true in Malta, which, features among the top five health service providers in the world. (World Health Organization)
This situation also applies to the dental field. Maltese dentistry, is of the highest quality, and is eminently affordable and costs a fraction of that, of its British counterpart. Furthermore, because of different work practices (i.e. less commuting, longer working hours, etc.) prevalent in Malta, waiting lists are much shorter and you the dental patient, can be assured of an efficient personalized service. Add to this, the ease of accessibility between the two countries (Malta being just a three-hour flight from major London airports) and it becomes abundantly clear why Malta, a recent entrant into the European Union, could provide a much-needed niche for the British patient who wishes to partake of dental facilities of the highest order at very favorable rates.
At the Regional Dental Clinic, many of our clients are British expatriates who have made Malta their home and are regular patients with us. Furthermore, because of the practices’ close proximity with many five and four-star hotels, several of our British, business travellers, attend routinely for treatment. This stands the Regional Dental practice, in good stead to be an active participant in the burgeoning British health tourism market.
In addition, The Regional Dental Clinic has forged ties with a few select tour operators, who would be more than happy to help dental tourists, like yourself to organize your short flight to Malta as well as, accommodation of your choice, during your stay.
At Regional Dental Clinic, we are also in a position to offer you, our patient, discount packages for larger treatment plans. These are available on request. Payment may be effected by either, credit card, bank draft or cash, directly through self-pay or, through the British NHS, if you have been referred by your health authority in Britain.
